What is Accelerated Reader?
Accelerated Reader(AR) provides formative assessment and periodic monitoring to enhance the curriculum, support differentiated instruction, and personalize practice in reading. AR helps manage the daily activities for students of all ability levels. We use Renaissance Learning for immediate feedback in reading. AR is a valuable technology tool that the students and I use daily in my room. Students use AR to take assessments on their individualized AR leveled books. The data provided helps keep track of the students' comprehension and monitor their progress on selected leveled text.

AR Goals
Currently, I am encouraging each child to reach his/her individual AR point goal this 9 weeks with an 85% average in comprehension. I know
they each can do this! Children are given protected reading time daily to meet this goal and are expected to read at least 10 minutes each night. This gives them ample opportunity to succeed and reach their goal.
AR Celebration/Blast
The students who meet their goal by... Thursday, October 8th, will participate in an AR celebration after lunch on ...Friday, October 15th. I conference with the students weekly concerning their AR points and average. You can also sign up to get daily/weekly reports at home via e-mail. There is also a visual in the classroom for students to keep track of where they are and where they need to go in terms of their AR goal. My goal for the class is for 100% of my class to participate in the AR celebration!
